Veneers
How often have you wished for an easier way to correct those pesky little imperfections with a few errant teeth that seem a bit out of line? Genix offers the full range of dental veneers that can enhance your smile without trimming the teeth down to small nubs. Veneers are facings that are attached on to the front surface of your teeth that is visible when you smile, and offer a perfect solution for a variety of dental imperfections.
Aesthetic, long-lasting, easy-to-care-for and gentle on your teeth, veneers are the perfect choice that can transform your smile. Some indications for veneers are:
- Brightening discoloured teeth
- Recontouring poorly shaped teeth
- Correcting chipped teeth that are not extensively broken
- Aligning crooked teeth
- Improving a gappy smile due to excessive or uneven spacing in the teeth
Veneers, while primarily advantageous for the conservation of tooth structure, offer a lot of other benefits. Take a look at the points below to know why veneers may prove to be the panacea you have been looking for all this while:
- Improvement in appearance while ensuring conservation of natural teeth since veneers require none-to-minimal tooth reduction
- Pain-free way to get corrections in the tooth shade, shape and space
- Quick turnaround time to get a smile makeover
- Strong and durable smile enhancement
- Simple maintenance and care
- Confident smile that stays with you 24/7
Your veneer journey begins with a consultation that includes a discussion so we can understand your goals with the treatment, an exam, high-quality dental photographs and jaw models. This allows us to design your bespoke treatment plan that is perfect for you. A lot of times, you may be able to get an idea of how your smile will look with the veneers even before you get started with our digital or in-mouth test-drive. Once we know you are happy with the smile we have designed for you with the veneers, we can then proceed with the treatment steps.
Veneers can be yours in a single appointment if made from resin-based composite, and 2 appointments if made from ceramic.
Placing veneers requires the dentist to create space for them, so that they don’t look unnecessarily bulky and unnatural. This is accomplished by preparing the teeth with removal of a very minimal amount of tooth substance: usually no more than 0.5 to 1 mm. This is why veneers are among of the most conservative ways to revolutionise your pearly whites. This is then followed by making an impression of your teeth with a recording material or a scanner if you are getting ceramic veneers.
Ceramic or porcelain veneers, sometimes called laminates, are tailor-manufactured for you in a dental lab, and look like extremely thin but strong shells of dental ceramic (glass, in other words). Once bonded on to your teeth using a process similar to how a false fingernail is applied (except much stronger), they are very durable. This process involves the use of a free-flowing glue that anchors the veneer to the tooth by settling into carefully roughened microscopic surface imperfections that create tiny anchor tags. Well-looked-after ceramic veneers can stay colour-stable for years to come.
Composite veneers are sculpted right inside your mouth and bonded on to your teeth by dentists with a special focus on cosmetic dentistry. The composite adheres firmly to the tooth in a manner like the glue described above. These offer a cost-effective way to achieve results that can be very similar to those obtained with ceramic veneers.
Once we have completed the all-important planning phase and have ensured that you are happy with the projected results, we have a verified blueprint to deliver the results you are looking for. All that remains is to work to make the plan a reality.
The process of making veneers is simple and pain-free. The steps are:
Appointment 1
Preparation of teeth
↓
Impressions and recording the shade of your teeth
⤷
Manufacture of veneers by skilled dental technicians in a dental laboratory
Appointment 2
Trial of the veneers in your mouth for fit, shape, shade and smile harmony
↓
Permanent bonding of the veneers
↓
Finishing and polishing
↓
All done!
Further adjustments to the veneers may be made in subsequent appointments.
- Your veneers need no special maintenance. Just ensure good oral hygiene with twice-a-day brushing with a fluoride toothpaste and interdental cleaning with floss. Regular visits to your dentist are recommended for everyone — veneers or not — to maintain good dental health.
- It helps to remember that your front teeth — with or without veneers — are not meant as tools to clip fingernails or to chip ice!
- Veneers are made only after your dentist ensures that the underlying teeth are healthy, which means free of decay and gum disease.
- Patients who clench or grind their teeth may not tolerate veneers very well, since there is a risk of chipping or de-bonding the veneers.
- Veneers—especially composite veneers—are finished to a very high level of polish. Composite resin materials, by their very nature, are prone to gather stains over years—especially if you are someone who consumes a lot of coloured foods and beverages. This means they can need some quick buffing every now and again.
